EDIT: I might've got a name wrong but I can't find a reference to it on the internet with stepping into spoiler mindfields so I'll leave off double-checking for now

Look, I'm still loving this game, it's a very strong contender for my GOTY even considering I'll be finally playing No More Heroes 2 in a few weeks, but Marston, you have a hell of a problem. Do you know what that is? You're too gosh-darned nice. You go out of your way to help everyone even when you have no good right or reason to. I understood with Bonnie, it kind of made sense in Mexico, but the drug-addled racist Scotsman? What possible way would saving a man so pathetic that he makes Sherlock Holmes' imbibing of cocaine retroactively unhip assist you in getting your family back? If you didn't insist on helping every douchenugget of a human being you came across and just shot THE FINAL BOSS in the forehead when you had the first, third or fourth chance--I mean hello DEAD EYE SLOW-MO PRECISE AIMING MODE??? I wouldn't be so mad if you at least TRIED! ARGH!!!

[arnie]CLINT HOCKING, I KNOW NOW WHY YOU CRY.[/arnie]

At the very least, the people writing your dialogue could have had you stirring up Reyes in the same way you did MacDougal (which was both hilarious and gratifying btw), so I wouldn't have to work out my rage on Reyes and his A Sex Scene by blowing up the cart of TNT he was sitting on ten times in a row.

Oh no, I couldn't just shoot any of the plot-bearing NPCs cranking me off for quick tension relief, could I? When I actually WANT to viciously murder people in a Rockstar game, I am denied! Friendly fire is turned off in this game, forever. Never did I feel it as much as I did during MacDougal's missions, which I've played through tonight. Oh sure the level-headed (if a little poorly voice-acted) native American who puts up with his bullshit gets shot in the head through another instance of Marston forgetting he can quick-draw but that dumb fuck MacDougal just. WON'T. DIE.

When the bear attacked him and he was running away (knocked off his horse) screaming, I stood there and watched with a :D smile on my face, at last nature was stepping in where Marston wouldn't. MacDougal killed the bear, I guess he had infinite health vs bears, but then when he was being held hostage on the rooftop--in EVERY OTHER situation when that happens if you screw up shooting the bandit, they shoot the hostage (usually a nameless innocent) in the head and it's instant mission failed, right? Instead, this mook (also a Native American) says some cliche tosh about going to the spirit realm, forgot completely about the RAVENING RACIST HE WAS ALREADY HOLDING AT GUNPOINT WHO HE HAD BEEN ORDERED TO KILL AS WELL, and shot at me instead.

This blows! Of the three NPCs I genuinely liked, one of them got women-ed out of the storyline, one just has nothing to do with me any more and the third's buggered off somewhere, hopefully to be an awesome mentor to
and teach
how to play poker, that's what I keep telling myself anyway.

It's not that I want all my NPCs to be shiny happy people, if I did I'd play Animal Crossing. I just want to know why the beginning of the game drew me in so well with the characters and Marston's interaction with them, and yet I've been forced to help complete floaters ever since.

The ending better be worth it, one way or another.

and I can't believe I'm learning things about myself w. regards to being too nice from a murderous cowboy Rockstar Games protagonist.
